Tupper Hall Services
The BioEM Facility in Tupper Hall supports UC Campus and Industry researchers with their ultrastructural investigations of tissues and cells using cell/tissue sectioning and transmission electron microscopy (TEM)
We are a full service laboratory providing preparation from conception to data collection.
- Consultation
- TEM grid preparation (carbon coating etc.)
- Sample preparation, embedding, sectioning, section staining
- Critical point drying and sputter coating
- Immuno processing and labeling
- Documentation of ultrastructure
- Image analysis
Users of the Tupper Facility can opt for full technical services in EM so that they are provided with whatever micrographs are needed for their specimen or users can work independently on the microscopes following appropriate training by the Tupper Facility staff.

Technicians are available for any technical services, training, or consultation. Arrangements for technician services should be made in advance. We are always willing to discuss the feasibility of projects. The first 0 .5 hour is free of charge. We also provide cost estimates without obligation. The ultimate billing of the work will be based upon total technical and instrumentation time utilized Small amounts of consumable supplies (digital media, specimen stubs, fixatives, embedding media, etc.) for microscopy may be obtained from our lab and will be billed at our cost (including tax, shipping, and overhead). Instrumentation is available for individual use after training has been provided by our staff. |
