The JEOL 2100F operates with an accelerating voltage of 200kV. It is equipped with a Schottky field emission gun and an array of three condenser lenses, which adds versatility to the illumination system with respect to previous designs. A set of apertures placed at the back-focal plane of the objective lens adds contrast to the images and serves as an emitter of secondary electrons, which serve to compensate beam-induced charging on the specimen. An extra set of apertures is located below the focal plane to privide additional contrast to biological specimens.
Paired with the state-of-the-art 5kx4k direct electron detector (DE-20, 6.4um pixel size), the 200kV JEOL 2100F electron microscope with field emission gun is dedicated for high resolution cryo-EM imaging and data collection.
